This is my bit of a blog. Rambling words about rambling days. No focus and nothing ambitious. I seem to write most about local color, nature, and animals, and there is an incomplete chunk about my road trips of 2011.

Grayson County

Possibly the quietest and most peaceful landscapes I've been through yet.
From very gently rolling in the SE to steep hill country, but with sizable, level, high valleys across the north.
Houses relatively sparse. Interestingly few mid-century homes. Mostly older and maintained, including lots of big, Victorian farmhouses, plus some newer construction, mostly small-scale, no McMansions.
Feel a bit hemmed in, in the south by hills and river, in the north by hills north and south.
But exceptionally beautiful, broad, open, rolling, high valley in much of the north to northeast. All farmed, nothing apparently left to explore, but beautiful to look across, all older barns and farm homes.
