This is my bit of a blog. Rambling words about rambling days. No focus and nothing ambitious. I seem to write most about local color, nature, and animals, and there is an incomplete chunk about my road trips of 2011.

Invasive Species

What fun: pulled on my work boots today and went into "the field" with ED. To begin posting a property we've just acquired in Bernardsville, NJ. Profited from a lesson in natural history about the great drama, monumental in the course of Earth history, unfolding on a square foot of forest floor. Learned about wine berries, bar berries, garlic mustard, and Oriental honeysuckle (bad, invasive species) and Virginia creeper (good, native specie). Pity the invasives are so delightful. I grew up picking wine berries and suckling honeysuckle!

We are also hatching a plan to cantilever me out into Ravine Lake. The airspace and body of water are public goods. I just mustn't touch the ground or lake bottom!
