This is my bit of a blog. Rambling words about rambling days. No focus and nothing ambitious. I seem to write most about local color, nature, and animals, and there is an incomplete chunk about my road trips of 2011.

Altamont, Tennessee

Open, attractive "downtown." Just greater concentration of structures. Several historic homes. Large county courthouse. Too spread out to be very pedestrian. But people active in town. Traffic not oppressive. Pretty central, grass square, with old, stone wall. But structures not very well facing square. Gas station, corner market. Couple vacant commercial buildings.

Altamont to Cagle

Routes 56 South, 108 East, 399 Northeast

Beautiful, gently rolling land. Forest, some residences, couple gorgeous cow farms. Short stretch dense conifer forest. Tennessee homes - many small ones with tin roofs, front porches.

Cagle to Dayton

(Gruetli-Laager)

Route 111 Southeast. Gorgeous farmland valley between ridges. Forest coming down into Soddy Daisy valley. Route 27 up to Dayton - beautiful, mostly forest, some farms, commercial.
