This is my bit of a blog. Rambling words about rambling days. No focus and nothing ambitious. I seem to write most about local color, nature, and animals, and there is an incomplete chunk about my road trips of 2011.

Stuart, Virginia

Route 81, from Greeneville to Bristol to Wytheville

Mostly lovely, rolling, partially forested farmland.

Route 77 South, from Wytheville to Blue Ridge Parkway

Perhaps most beautiful open, rolling, partially wooded farmland yet. Cattle. Large farms, few structures. Barns are old.

Blue Ridge Parkway, from Route 77 to Route 58

Rolling hills. Forest but half large farms too.

Route 58 South, from Route 77 to Stuart

Mostly more big, beautiful, partially wooded farmland. Last few miles, wooded, high hills.

Stuart, Virginia

Old town on hill. Courthouse center, plus about three walkable blocks. Old theatre, farmers market space, Virginian Motel. Grocery, gas, other commercial surrounding below. But no ugly chain commercial area. High hills one side, rolling with some farmland other side.
