This is my bit of a blog. Rambling words about rambling days. No focus and nothing ambitious. I seem to write most about local color, nature, and animals, and there is an incomplete chunk about my road trips of 2011.

Hayesville, North Carolina

Lovely old square at town center. Courthouse. Partially fringed with arcade of shops. Mostly one-story. Quite walkable. Civic activity (banners) in progress. Some very modest houses walking distance to center.

Off main Route 69. In gorgeous, shallow, broad valley. Very gently rolling medium-size hills in far distance. Quite a lot of farmland left in valley. Plenty of newer home construction sprinkled in.

Really good feeling topography.

Playhouse, one cafe.

Routes 2/76, from Hayesville, North Carolina to Blairsville, Georgia

Extra length of Routes 2/76 down to Blairsville descends gently into lower valley. Alternating small, twentieth-century farms, newer residences, retail.
